IP Monitoring
We do not recommend IP (internet) monitoring through a local LAN as it
is a lot less reliable and less secure than the standard phone line and the associated problems that are inherited with it. These include:
1. Technicians not knowing about networking and port forwarding.
2. Every client has a different ADSL modem or router
3. The technician must run a Cat 5 from the alarm to the router.
4. Does the modem and or router have a UPS for power failures.
5. Does the clients modem get disconnected much?
6 Does the client mess with his modem or has bought a new modem.
The list could go on and I will not dwell on it as you can see the few simple items i have listed can be a real problem setting up and alarm to use IP.

In the event of GPRS failure, GPRS alarms can automatically be reported via SMS to a control room. The text arrives in raw data and is then is decoded by CMS software. When GPRS comes back on line the unit will send a GPRS restoral and all events come though the primary path, GPRS.
Some of the new features include
•2 ways of Connection either DTMF or Serial interface (plug and play)
• Can be used as a stand alone system to send SMS or GPRS from alarms with full contact ID
• For SMS reporting the user can supply up to 64 zone descriptions and up to 32 user names as an alternative to zone or user numbers.
• Can monitor its own supply voltage Battery voltage and AC voltage.
• 90 sec, 1Hr, 4Hr Poll rates.
• Signal strength will be sent to the control room via a Contact ID string so when commissioning you can find out if the signal is strong.
